Snuffleupagus

I have no idea what kind of doggie this is...any ideas?

Update: One of the stickers on the case says this pup is a Coton de Tulear. Fancy!

PERUVIAN HAIRLESS!

One of the best things about the dog show was not just that there were hundreds of adorable dogs with friendly humans, but also the fact that there were so many different kinds of dogs walking around. Dogs I'd only read about, or seen in YouTube videos! Dogs like the PERUVIAN HAIRLESS, which I'd longed to see IRL. (In addition to YOLO, my students taught me IRL this summer. Eep.)

The women with these dogs were really friendly, and explained that it's necessary to oil these dogs down (yes) and to coat them with sunscreen. (I frequently saw them doing both.)

Look at these beauties!

It's like touching a baby.

Check out those skin wrinkles!

Poodle!

Fancy.

I once had a funny conversation with my French mom about how some people in the U.S. associate poodles with France (she hadn't heard this). But apparently French poodles actually originated in Germany. Who knew!

Happy Thursday.

Beach doggie

Loquillo beach doggie

I was told by some park employees that I shouldn't pet this sweet little guy. Alas!

English bulldog

THAT FACE.

Whenever I see a bulldog, I now think of this article and cringe.  (Note that because this was a dog show, the bulldogs were especially exaggerated. Ugh.) But given that I really love bulldogs, I took a zillion photos of them at this thing (despite the awfulness of breeding practices, eep), so stay tuned.

Bruno

Hello, BPofGD!

I'm back after a long hiatus, and have approximately 100 photos (yes, 100!) to share.  Having a dogblog without actually having a dog presents some problems for content (e.g., going to a dog park without a dog seems to sketch some people out), but fortunately, the best thing happened this past week...I went to Puerto Rico for a conference and a dog show was simultaneously taking place at the convention center.

Red carpet for dogs.

FOUR DAYS OF DOGS! And friendly humans who were really amenable to strangers taking photos of their (show)dogs.  It was the.best.

Oh! And another great thing happened during the past six weeks: one James D. sent me his amazing dog zine. A ZINE OF DOGS! Thanks so much, James--totally made my month. I'll try to take some pix of it to post here.  Dog lovers, unite!

Anyway, enjoy the next 100 days of well-groomed pooches.

Bruno was walking around Old San Juan (and was not, ahem, a showdog). So cute!

Look at that face!
(I finally learned how to do captions. Hip hip!)

Otis and Chance

I like Chance so much, and was reminded of his cuteness at my department's welcome picnic a month or so ago. Look at this face!

Otis was pretty cute too.

Thanks to Raechel for the photos and David for all the blog love!

Argh, I can't really figure out why the blog is being weird text-wise, but no matter. Here's the link to Nellie on a Bench...she's almost up to 100 benches! So.genius.

Thanks to Maeve for the link and for the general blog support!

Nellie Bark Like a Pirate Day!

For some reason, the text is being very odd in this post, so apologies for the lack of links, etc. Remember Nellie? Such brilliance! Thanks to Maeve for the photo!

NJ doggie

I can't remember this dog's name, but she was very sweet and very old. I like how she looks like a little rat. So cute!

THIS DOG.

I met Ziggy on Friday night and these photos do not do his adorableness justice. THE CUTEST and sweetest doggie! Look at those little feet. Ziggy!

Duchess

I got quite a few bad photos of great dogs at the Walker Art Center's Internet Cat Video Film Festival (which was great, by the way). Look at this baby!

What a total sweetie!

Zizi and Fi!

My friend asked me yesterday if I post photos of babies on the blog, to which I replied, "Only if they're with doggies!" (Look out for a baby photo with a superimposed dog...)

Sisters!

Thanks to Marj for the photo. xoxox!

Happy August!

I recently commented to my friend Conrad that his dog Winnie looks like a kangaroo. Look what his special someone put together! So roo-like! (Winnie also kind of looks like Dobby...!)

Back, again, for real! (hopefully)

Hi, hopefully still loyal blog viewers/"readers"!

I've been negligent about posting due to the beginning of teaching, working more, blah blah blah. I miss blogging! I miss looking at photos of doggies! I was actually in Boston recently and saw TONS of adorable pups, but alas, I was without my camera. <--Renewed commitment to bringing this with me. For some reason, it feels easier to ask strangers to take photos of their dogs if I'm not in my home city.

Anyway, this also happened:

And this:

Apparently I love cats now!

Although this was taken last summer, so I guess I've just been in denial. Kitties!

MORE DOGS COMING SOON!
